If you have read our website at all, especially the trip reports, you already know that our cat Gasper is named after Gasparito Restaurant and Art Gallery. It has been our long time favorite restaurant on the island of Aruba.
Jerry and I visited for the restaurant for dinner one night during our first visit to the island in 1995. We had read the recommendation in Fodor's and thought it might be nice to try a place with local cuisine. Oh yeah, it was local all right. How can I ever forget Jerry's dinner of Goat Stew? The Art Gallery we figured would just be a bonus.
Nowadays we usually visit twice a trip. No matter how tired we are, it is always our first night's dinner. Seeing Elvina and Henri is like coming home. If you are going to try Aruba's traditional cuisine, here is the place to sample Keshi Yena. Our other favorites include Pasta with Mushroom Sauce, Mussel Soup, Catch of the Day with Creole Sauce and Filet Mignon with Mushroom Sauce. Dd loved the Coconut Shrimp.
If you stop by, which I hope you do, make sure you check out the artwork and our cat Gasper's photo!
