Water Clarity on Palm Beach Aruba

Palm Beach ArubaThis question has come up over the years in various Aruba forums. As a long time lover of Aruba's Palm Beach, after twelve years of observation I am going to add my two cents. In 1995 when we first visited Aruba, the water was NOT crystal clear on Palm Beach. Intermittently over the years the water has been sometimes clear. For the most part though, I am going to say that during the months of January, March, June, September and December the water has hardly ever been crystal clear.

In the past few years, imo, the water has been more cloudy. BUT with that being said, considering the amount of traffic from the watersports boats, it is understandable. After all the sand is constantly being stirred up by the propellers of these boats. Walk Palm Beach early in the morning just after sunrise and you can get some glimpses of that beautiful crystal clear water many people are seeking.

FWIW, I have never seen water as crystal clear as it was during the six days my husband and I stayed on Paradise Island for our wedding. I had also been to PI, twice previous to that. One time the weather was too cold for the beach and the other the weather was stormy and the beach was roped off (closed!) because the waves were HUGE!

Given a choice, I'll take water on Palm Beach Aruba where I can only see my knees Approve anytime of the year vs. risky weather in the Bahamas.
