Luggage Scale | Magellan's Travel Supplies

Aruba Bound
Easy-Grip Luggage Scale

Tired off standing on your home scale without and then with your suitcase to determine how much it weighs?

We have had a luggage scale for years and would not fly anywhere without it. You only have to rearrange your open suitcases on the floor of the airport at check-in once, to realize how much you need one of these scales. With the holidays coming, they make great stocking stuffers. Dh and I have also bought them as Christmas gifts for other family members who are frequent fliers.

Aruba and Artificial Reefs

There are a Variety of Environmental and Human Reasons for the Creation of Artificial Reefs

August 19th, 2010

"First of all, an artificial reef is any type of reef project, foreign object(s) or reef systems, which is not an original coral formation or natural coral ecosystem. These are usually made by humans for specific purpose such as promoting marine life growth or creating areas of marine growth where this is lacking or has been destroyed. Artificial reefs can also be created accidentally by sunken ships, aircrafts or due to flooding. Many man-made artificial reefs are created with a purpose, while others become an artificial reef by “accident” or because of history.

Romantic Dinners in Aruba

The Flying Fishbone is an excellent choice for a romantic dinner. DO make a reservation ASAP and request a table on the beach next to the water! If you want to be there for sunset, make your reservation about at least a half hour before. Being so close to the equator, the sun sets very quickly. Dh and I have never eaten there for sunset. Just too early for us after spending all day on the beach. The down side of the Flying Fishbone is that if you do not have a rental car, it is a very expensive taxi ride from the resort areas.

Aruba Beach Tennis International Championships

November 19 - 21, 2010

"Beach Tennis can be played both competitively and recreationally and because it's so simple to play, it appeals to athletes and non-athletes of all ages. It's like regular tennis except its played on a regulation beach volleyball court. Using paddle racquets, two players on each team volley back and forth, hitting a slightly depressurized tennis ball directly over the net without letting it bounce... it's hard to make the ball bounce on sand! One hit per team is all that is allowed.

Competitions will be held at Moomba Beach."

Free Hotel Upgrades Part I

By Michelle Delio http://www.fodors.com/

"Ask and you might receive
When you book a hotel room, ask about every possible discount. Do they offer a corporate rate? If you have a business card and you're not staying in a resort property, you probably qualify. Are you a government employee? Do you qualify for a military service rate? AARP? Local resident rate? (Hawaiian hotels offer steep discounts to island residents). If you don't qualify for any of these reductions, politely say "What's the absolute best rate available for the days I want to stay at your property?"

For Aruba Do Not Forget To Pack A Hat

Aruba Bound
A hat for protection from the sun. Nothing worse than sunburned tops of ears.

We all wear the hats to protect our head, ears, and faces from Aruba's fierce sun. They also have under chin draw strings for those windy days in Aruba. Both dh and I have at one time or another gone swimming after a hat blown off by the wind. Even if you decide to go without the drawstring, the Ultimate Panama hat floats!

Mom's bonus? They are machine washable. The antique brass, screened grommets after 10 years are beginning to get tarnished. In my mind it only adds character to the hats.

So how do we tell the difference between whose hat is whose? Different colors! I have Natural and dh has the Khaki color. Dd has a lighter weight.
